NEW BRACES TECHNOLOGY

There have been many positive changes in braces over the past decade which allows us to offer much more efficient and comfortable appliances to our patients. At Chang Orthodontics we are proud to be one of the few Southern California offices using these newer technologies and techniques!

We have moved away from the older, traditional braces which require ligature ties tightly stretched around the edges of each bracket to hold the wire in place. These braces trap more plaque, require more frequent visits, and create more friction against the wires, which in turn results in a tighter overall feel on the teeth.

The new brackets we use include the Damon System and In-Ovation ‘R’ or ‘C’. Each system offers metal or clear and are smaller, lower profile, more comfortable, and extremely well made. These amazing new technologies are ‘self-ligating’ and allow for a frictionless environment. In other words, the brackets have ‘doors’ that open and use a passive slide mechanism to maintain the archwires within the bracket. These highly efficient systems have many advantages, such as fewer appointment times, less friction (more gentle) and are much more hygienic. They also allow for greater arch width expansion, fewer teeth extraction, and in some cases, a faster treatment time.

NEW OFFICE TECHNOLOGY

Here at Chang Orthodontics we are always incorporating new in-office technologies to enhance your experience here as a patient or parent. If you have not had a chance to fully explore our website, please take a moment to check it out and be sure to visit often for updates and important office information or events taking place. It is here you will also be able to fill out new patient forms or update your health history. As a patent in active treatment ,you are also able to sign up for a private ‘T-Link’ account which allows you access to view all your photos, x-rays, account info and also make secure on-line payments.

We are also pleased to have the convenience of an on-site X-ray & Imaging Lab which uses all digital technology, reducing radiation by seventy percent and allowing for immediate viewing of the x-rays. At a nearby lab there is 3D CT scan imaging available when needed, which is extremely helpful in diagnosing problems such as impacted teeth. This technology helps Dr. Chang as he frequently reviews patient cases with involved specialists, and is easily accessed from his iPad.
